Your SEO Isn’t Working and It’s Costing You Money

Let’s get something straight about SEO…

…most business owners are wasting thousands on SEO, that does NOTHING for them. It doesn’t generate revenue, traffic, enquiries, calls, leads, or anything that business owner cares about.

Every month, they clients are shown bullshit reports, full of meaningless vanity metrics by the account manager, who is just a glorified sales rep.

The same person that’s managing 60 accounts (way too many), does not know their client’s business, and only feeds them everything they need to know, in order to get them to spend more money with the agency.

What Most Digital Marketing Agencies are REALLY Like

‘Digital marketing’ agencies only offer one-size-fits-all, cookie-cutter website packages. They even have cute little names for them, like ‘Gold’, ‘Elite’, and ‘Platinum Connect’.

They use out-dated, slow loading themes and templates. Nothing is custom built.

Also, most digital marketing agencies in the USA fired all their outsourced copywriters about 3 years ago.

Digital Marketing Agencies Now Use ChatGPT to Write Bad SEO Content

Now, their web designers are now producing the web content.

They write bottom-shelf content using chatGPT. That content doesn’t rank anywhere for anything. The web designers were not trained in prompt engineering, or how to use AI. They were just told “We’re not using paid writers anymore. You’re gonna use ChatGPT now, so it speeds up your process, and makes it cheaper for us.”

Oh, and did they reduce the pricing for YOU, now they’re knocking out this cut-price garbage a human has never even touched?

NOPE.

THE FACTS ARE… …most ‘digital marketing agencies’ are owned by so-called ‘experts’ who couldn’t rank a lemonade stand in July.

Usually, management are just business people that fell upon a money making idea about 10 years ago. When this is all over, they’ll just move on to the next thing.

Most of the digital marketing agencies are now moving on to CRM’s, as well as social media ad campaigns, but that’s another story.

How do I Know So Much About Digital Marketing Agencies?

In case you’re wondering how I know so much about digital marketing agencies, it’s because I’ve worked for them, in sales.

One of the agencies I worked for:

I knew more about web design than their ‘lead web developer’, more about paid ads than their Paid Media Director, and more about SEO than anyone there.

When I first started working there… I thought I’d be working with experts. It was shameful.

Bad Advice from Sales Managers at Digital Marketing Agency

I was advised by sales managers to sell business owners SEO products for their business, that wouldn’t increase their SEO at all.

Just in case you thought this might’ve been a small agency… this digital marketing agency has over 90,000 clients in the USA today.

I left the company for many reasons, the above were just a few.

Mark my words, digital marketing agencies care about ONE THING the most.

They only care about their MRR, which is the Monthly Recurring Revenue the sales guy gets from the business owner.

The more, the better.

The Bad SEO Result?

You’re showing up nowhere, getting no traffic, and still paying $1,500 a month for someone to get ChatGPT to spit out an AI slop blog post. Sometimes they’ll also drop a backlink from a random sit nobody reads, or pays attention to.

Here’s the truth they won’t tell you:

SEO isn’t a subscription service. It doesn’t need monthly maintenance, changing, or updating.

SEO is a strategy, not made up as you go. They don’t need with the business owner’s approval for anything (who isn’t the SEO expert, and shouldn’t be made to decide these things). These area ll just excuses to get you to talk with your account manager more.

And if you don’t have a strategy?

You’re not doing SEO.

You’re pissing in the wind, and setting money on fire.

Let’s fix that.

The Hidden Cost of Doing SEO the Wrong Way

Bad organic SEO and local SEO don’t just drain your bank account. They cost your company growth.

Here’s what’s really happening when you overpay for weak SEO:

  • Your site gets traffic that doesn’t convert.
  • Traffic comes from all over the world, not just where you want it from
  • The website ranks for keywords that don’t matter to your business.
  • You miss local leads because your Google Business Profile is a ghost town.
  • You’re paying for blog posts that are generic, lifeless, and read like they were written by ChatGPT with a hangover (see above, they WERE!)

Meanwhile, the business down the street with worse products, higher prices, and a basic Squarespace site is EATING YOUR LUNCH.

All because they dialed in just one thing: A smart SEO setup built on real strategy, designed to amplify your message across Google in the right places.

seo-for-local-business-and-personal-brands

If you’re a coach, consultant, or service-based brand… this isn’t optional.

It’s the difference between inbox crickets and a steady stream of income being produced, using high quality leads with ready-to-buy clients, finding you on autopilot.

The $12K Black Hole That Changed Everything

Let me tell you about a client of mine. Let’s call her Danielle. She runs a personal brand and coaching business in a competitive niche.

Sharp, driven, smart as hell, and shrude. But, but she made one mistake:

She trusted a “top-rated” SEO agency.

They gave her fancy reports, talked about keyword density and domain authority, and said all the right things.

Six months later, these were her business results:

  • $12,000 burned
  • No bump in traffic
  • Zero page one rankings
  • No new clients from Google search

And, she still didn’t know what the digital marketing agency were even doing each month.

That’s when she found Shared Graphics.

Here’s what we did differently:

We ran a full SEO audit on her website, and found 42 technical issues slowing down her site, and killing rankings.

There were even multiple pages and blog posts on her website, that were actually competing with each other for search rankings. Not good.

We actually had to DELETE some of the posts and website pages, for her site to rank better. Yes, you’re reading this correctly, removing content can sometimes improve your site’s SEO.

We Built a Custom SEO Strategy

We targeted real keywords that buyers search for, at the most important moment. The moment they’re ready to purchase, not just researching.

We wrote blog posts that answered questions her ideal customers would ask Google, if looking for her service.

Optimized content was written with Local phrases tied to her city, and local cities in her area, to improve organic search results nearby in her service area.

High-converting blog ideas tied to her services, for when the prospects are ready to purchase.

We Optimized her Google Business Profile, Citations, and Local Listings

In just 8 weeks, she started to showed up in the top 3 results for her area.

Within 60 days, organic traffic increased by 3x.

Within 90 days, she had booked 4 new high-ticket clients.

No magic.

No Bullshit.

Just real strategy, executed with precision, by a team that knows what we’re doing, with over 25 years experience.

The new optimized website is now bringing her 1-2 new local clients in her area. This brings in $5-7,000.00 in initial fees, plus $300.00 more per client, in monthly revenue.

She does not run paid ads to generate this traffic, because it’s coming to her organically.

Increased Social Media Ad Spend

With the increased business revenue from the organic SEO, she’s now also been able to re-invest that into her business.

Now, she’s spending another $3,000.00 in social media and search ads each month. Those new ads are bringing another 5-6 new highly qualified clients, every month.

This is another $15-21,000.00 in onboarding fees, and $1,500-$1,800.00 in monthly revenue.

Total Increased Revenue

Due to our Local SEO adjustments, and rebuilding the website… this business now has 3x the monthly website traffic.

It also has increased monthly revenue of around $30,000.00 in new revenue, and increased recurring revenue of around $2,000 every month.

The growth in monthly revenue compounds the amount they can re-invest into social and search ads. So, this business is now able to grow and expand like never before.

What Real SEO Looks Like

Let’s break it all down… because whilst SEO is really relatively simple, so many get it wrong.

Real SEO isn’t a guessing game. It’s a system driven by data that has guidelines, and proven ways things work.

What You Do Not Want in SEO

Rankings for broad keywords nobody’s searching for, or they’re not relevant.

You don’t want to rank for keywords where people are looking to RESEARCH, and answer advisory questions, you want to rank for keywords that have buyer’s intent.

Monthly blog posts that never get read by anyone at all (check your traffic for that)

Generic reports you don’t understand, based on vanity metrics.

Vague promises like “We’ll help you get found online.”

What You Need: A Full Technical + On-Page SEO Audit

If your site isn’t good under the hood, Google’s not giving you the time of day.

This is the equivalent of a Lamborghini with no engine.

At Shared Graphics, we dig into the most important details:

  • Site speed
  • Mobile responsiveness
  • Meta structure
  • Crawl errors
  • Indexing issues
  • Keyword placement
  • Internal linking
  • Images having the correct tags in the coding

A Strategic SEO Keyword Plan

We don’t just find ‘high volume’ keywords. Instead, we’re looking for buyer intent keywords. The kind that pull real leads.

Example 1: “Business coach” is broad.

“Business coach for female entrepreneurs in Temecula, CA” = better.

Example2 : “Best Electric Water Heater” shows no buyers intent.

“Plumber for electric water heater in Murrieta CA”, or “Plumber for electric water heater near me” = Both of these have SOLID buyer’s intent.

This person is looking to hire a plumber in Murrieta, CA, or near them, ASAP.

Content That Converts

Most SEO content is written to please an algorithm.

This is because people that don’t understand SEO, are just aiming for high volume.

But, all this does is bring more traffic to your website.

Sounds good, right?

Wrong.

Bad SEO Generates Unwanted Foreign Website Traffic

If you’re a local window cleaning company in Menifee, California, you want traffic from your local area only.

It’s of no use to you to have people visiting your website that are living in the UK, or Australia, Louisiana, Northern California even, or anywhere else.

I was doing competitive research for Local SEO, for an acupuncture client in San Diego, recently.

One of her competitors had 230,000 monthly website visits for over 2,000 keywords about acupuncture. That sounds pretty impressive, and you might’ve been fooled into thinking this was a great website, and a big competitor.

But, looking into the data… most of the site visitors were from Europe, the UK, and Australia.

Do Not SEO High Volume Keywords

They were also for high-volume keywords, but they had absolutely no buyer’s intent. These people were just looking into advice, or information about acupuncture, and were the other side of the world.

Only 0.5% of the site traffic were local, with any buyer’s intent.

This Local business had spent tens of thousands of dollars on blogging, writing articles, and it was NOT bringing them any business at all.

High Volume Keywords Don’t Target Buyers

The wrong keywords don’t necessarily mean the person searching, is looking to buy.

As mentioned above, we look for the lower volume, low competition, buyer intent keywords.

We find buyer intent keywords that are easier to rank for, because they’re being overlooked, or not being used because people are presuming, instead of researching Google data.

This is the ‘low hanging fruit’ being overlooked by bad SEO companies.

In SEO You Must Serve Google’s Goal

I also write to speak directly to humans, and solve their problems.

All while making Google happy too, because Google wants just ONE thing, and ONE thing only.

Google’s Number One Goal

Google’s number one goal: to answer questions quickly, in the best, and most relevant way possible.

We structure content to rank and sell. Google will promote your content when it’s useful to people, and answers questions being asked online.

Our website content is written using persuasive copywriting frameworks that convert. To help the reader, but also promote your service as the solution to the problem they have.

Every headline, section, and CTA is designed to lead someone to book a call, fill out a form, or buy.

Local SEO Optimization

If you serve a local area, even partially, Local SEO is critical. It’s a completely different animal to organic SEO, which focuses more on a national / international level.

What good is it for a mechanic in Southern California trying to attract paying customers, to attract and solve problems for a guy trying to fix his car in South East London, or Europe?

Local SEO has different strategies.

Both on the website, and off site, too.

These include:

  • Google Business Profile Optimization
  • Local citations and listings
  • Geo-targeted keywords
  • Local landing pages
  • Reputation management
  • You want to show up when someone types ‘[your service] near me?’
  • This is how we make that happen.
